How does a shake torch work?
The Shake and Shine Torch is made up of a copper coil, a magnet and a capacitor. When you shake the torch, the magnet passes back and forth through the coil. This creates electricity, which is then sent to and stored in the capacitor.
This capacitor functions like a battery. It is made up of two sheets of conductors separated by an insulator. Because of this, capacitors don’t wear out and have a much longer life-span than regular batteries.
The capacitor (battery) powers up the LED light. Since LEDs don’t create heat when they shine, they use a lot less energy. Which means your shake torch will run for much longer on only a few shakes!
